The Mid-Level Network Engineer – Role Description & Requirements
Everyone is trying to “harness the power of the cloud,” but not everyone knows how. As a Cloud Computing Infrastructure Architect, you know how to take advantage of cloud capabilities. On our team of experts, you’ll use cutting-edge enterprise cloud platforms to support your clients as they modernize their IT infrastructure and meet their most challenging missions. We’re looking for someone like you to help build and operate Advana, the Department of Defense’s premier data analytics platform and “source of truth.”
You’ll closely collaborate with fellow cloud architects and engineers specializing in AWS to design, define/develop, test, and debug cloud infrastructure and solution components. You’ll have the chance to work within a DevOps framework to build and manage container apps and use products like Kubernetes to further the mission. With access to our internal AWS, you’ll have the space and time to explore different ways of solving our clients’ challenges, and you’ll partner with stakeholders and your team to deliver the right technical solutions. What we’re looking for:
- Someone with a solid background developing solutions for high volume, low latency applications and can operate in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment.

Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years’ experience in some combination of the following (Ideal candidate has BOTH F% and AWS experience):
- F5 BIG-IP Experience
- Knowledge of configuring traffic through Local Traffic Manager (LTM) using iRules, Virtual Servers, and Pools.
- Knowledge of configuring, modifying, and reviewing Application Security Module (ASM) WAF policies and block logs.
- Any F5 Certification
- AWS Experience
- Experience configuring and modifying VPC components such as Security Groups, Route Tables, Subnets, and Private Endpoints.
- Understanding of how to connect to an enterprise network either using VPN or Direct Connect.
- Knowledge of peering AWS networks together using VPC Peering and Transit Gateway.
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional Certification, AWS Networking Specialty Certification
- F5 BIG-IP Experience
- Active TS/SCI clearance with willingness to upgrade to Polygraph
- Available 3-4 days a week onsite in the Crystal City/Alexandria, VA region
Additional Qualifications:
- Understand subnetting and CIDR ranges
- Know how to use tools like Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Demonstrate walking through their troubleshooting process to go through if it is determined that there is a potential network issue
