The Mid-Level Security Engineer – Role Description & Requirements

Everyone is trying to “harness the power of the cloud,” but not everyone knows how. As a Cloud Computing Infrastructure Architect, you know how to take advantage of cloud capabilities. On our team of experts, you’ll use cutting-edge enterprise cloud platforms to support your clients as they modernize their IT infrastructure and meet their most challenging missions. We’re looking for someone like you to help build and operate Advana, the Department of Defense’s premier data analytics platform and “source of truth.”

You’ll closely collaborate with fellow cloud architects and engineers specializing in AWS to design, define/develop, test, and debug cloud infrastructure and solution components. You’ll have the chance to work within a DevOps framework to build and manage container apps and use products like Kubernetes to further the mission. With access to our internal AWS, you’ll have the space and time to explore different ways of solving our clients’ challenges, and you’ll partner with stakeholders and your team to deliver the right technical solutions. What we’re looking for:

• Someone with a solid background developing solutions for high volume, low latency applications and can operate in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment.

• An individual with a curious mind, passionate about solving problems quickly and bringing innovative ideas to the table.

Basic Qualifications:

• 4+ years’ experience in some combination of the following:
  • Linux experience
    • Some level of familiarity with the command line
    • Knowledge of users, groups, and FACL
  • AWS experience
    • Experience setting up and configuring IAM policies
    • Experience setting up and configuring bucket policies
    • Knowledge of the difference between IAM Users, Roles, and Groups
    • Experience with aws cli
  • Active Directory or other LDAP applications
    • Familiarity with Users, Security groups, Computers, and Organizational units
    • Knowledge of how to set up search filters
    • Knowledge modifying ldap entries from the command line
  • Automation experience
    • Experience with an automation tool like ansible or terraform
    • Experience with git repositories like gitlab or github
    • Familiarity with scripting i.e.: bash, powershell, perl, sed, awk
• Top Secret SCI clearance with Polygraph
• Available 4-5 days a week onsite in the Crystal City/Alexandria, VA region

Additional Qualifications:

• Can read and understand some programming languages
• Prior use of a code scanning tool
• Proficiency with Splunk
